A new Space for Song
Formed at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama following a side-by-side project with pianist Alisdair Hogarth and The Prince Consort at Wigmore Hall, SongSpiel seeks to revitalise the song repertoire by exploring new possibilities of dramatic presentation, online content and an equal emphasis on both new and established repertoie.

Recent concerts include Schumann Spanisches Liederspiel & William Marsey Austerity Songs (new commission) at St James' Piccadily, Brahms Liebeslieder and Hough Other Love Songs at the Sarah Abraham Recital Hall, Brighton College and a collaboration with Ensemble Perpetuo, shadowographer Drew Colby & composer Cheryl Francis-Hoad on her song cycle The Thought Machine.
'The Thought Machine' is a new live music, poetry and hand shadowgraphy show for children aged 4-12. Developed in collaboration with Cheryl Frances-Hoad, Kate Wakeling, Drew Colby, SongSpiel and Ensemble Perpetuo

Austerity Songs - Continuing our relationship with the composer William Marsey we are embarking upon a residency & recording project culminating in this talk and concert at The Red House, Aldeburgh
Throughout 2019 and beyond we’re touring Cheryl Frances-Hoad’s work The Thought Machine with shadowographer Drew Colby. This show is initially being toured around schools in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, before a more extensive tour of festivals across the entire country!
